Adjustable Jack Bases & U-Heads
Every stable scaffolding structure is a masterpiece of balance—it begins with a rock-solid foundation at the bottom and culminates in a precision-aligned support system at the top. At GCC Scaffolding, we understand that the safety of your entire crew and the integrity of your build depend on these two critical contact points.
Our high-precision Adjustable Jack Bases and U-Heads are engineered to ensure your project remains level, secure, and capable of handling immense vertical loads, regardless of how challenging the terrain or complex the shoring requirements.

Adjustable Jack Bases for Unwavering Stability
The foundation is the most vulnerable point of any scaffold. Whether you are working on a sloped industrial site, sandy coastal terrain, or uneven concrete, our Jack Bases provide the necessary vertical adjustment to create a perfectly level starting grid.
- Precision Leveling on Any Terrain: Our jack bases feature high-tolerance rolled threads, allowing for minute height adjustments. This eliminates "wobble" and ensures that the weight of the entire scaffold is distributed evenly across the sole boards.
- Heavy-Duty Load Distribution: Using a reinforced base plate (typically 150mm×150mm), the downward pressure is safely dissipated, preventing the scaffold standards from sinking or shifting during the project.
- Safety-Lock Engineering: The heavy-duty wing nuts are designed for high-torque hand tightening or tool assistance, ensuring the height remains locked even under the vibration of heavy machinery or high-impact work.
U-Heads for Advanced Shoring & Formwork
While the base secures the ground, the U-Head secures the load. In shoring and formwork applications, the U-Head acts as the critical interface between the vertical scaffolding and the horizontal structural beams.
- Dynamic Height Calibration: In complex slab work where varying thicknesses are required, the U-Head allows for final "fine-tuning" of the height, ensuring your formwork is millimeter-perfect before the pour begins.
- Seamless Load Transfer: By centering the load directly over the vertical standards, our U-Heads maximize the load-bearing capacity of the entire scaffold system, preventing eccentric loading that can lead to structural failure.
- Secure Beam Integration: The "U" channel is specifically dimensioned to house primary timber or steel beams (H20 beams or Aluma beams) with zero lateral movement. This prevents the "kick-out" of beams during the high-pressure phase of a concrete pour.

What is the maximum safe extension height for an adjustable jack?
While our jacks are available in lengths up to 750mm, safety regulations (such as OSHA and EN standards) generally recommend that the extension should not exceed 600mm (24 inches). For maximum stability, we recommend keeping at least 25% of the threaded stem (a minimum of 150mm) inside the scaffolding standard at all times to prevent buckling under heavy loads.
Should I choose a Solid or Hollow Jack Base for my project?
- Solid Jack Bases: Best for heavy-duty shoring, high-rise construction, and bridge projects where vertical load requirements are extreme.
- Hollow Jack Bases: Ideal for standard access scaffolding and maintenance. They are lighter and easier to handle on-site while still providing significant load-bearing capacity for most commercial projects.
Are GCC Jack Bases and U-Heads compatible with all scaffolding systems?
Yes. Our components are designed with universal diameters (32mm, 34mm, and 38mm) to fit seamlessly with the most common systems in the industry, including Ringlock, Cuplock, Kwikstage, and traditional Tube and Clamp scaffolding.
How do I maintain the threads to ensure long-term adjustability?
To ensure smooth operation over multiple project cycles, we recommend: Regular Cleaning: Remove concrete splatter or dirt from the threads after each use.
- Lubrication: Periodically apply a light industrial lubricant to the threaded rod.
- Inspection: Check for any signs of “thread stripping” or bending before re-issuing the equipment to a new site.
What is the load-bearing capacity of a standard GCC U-Head?
Our standard adjustable U-Heads are rated for a Safe Working Load (SWL) of approximately 4 to 6 tons, depending on the specific diameter and steel grade (Q235 or Q345). For specialized shoring projects requiring higher capacities, we can manufacture reinforced solid-stem versions.
